Experience

Dr Jane Khoo is a registered Clinical Neuropsychologist with almost 20 years of experience working with people with acquired brain injury (ABI).

She has seen clients with traumatic brain injury, concussion, stroke, brain tumour, alcohol and drug related brain injury, dementia, neurological conditions such as multiple sclerosis, infections, and neuropsychiatric disorders.

Jane has worked in major hospitals in Victoria within acute care, subacute and community rehabilitation services. She currently holds a senior clinical position at Alfred Health in the ABI Unit and Community Rehabilitation services.

Jane is of Singaporean-Chinese heritage and is able to speak both English and Chinese Mandarin.

Therapeutic Approach

Jane uses a person-centred, evidence-based and collaborative approach to assessments and intervention. She helps clients, family members, and those involved in their care, employers/teachers gain a better understanding of the person’s cognitive strengths and weaknesses with practical strategies and recommendations, including readiness to return to work/study or driving.

Jane also works with individuals who experience difficulties such as anxiety, depression, following a brain injury. She can identify difficulties with adjustment, grief and loss, and support clients to clarify what they value so that they can make positive choices towards improved wellbeing and quality of life. She draws on the principles of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Positive Psychology and coaching frameworks.

Qualifications, Registrations, Memberships

  • Doctor of Psychology in Clinical Neuropsychology, La Trobe University
  • Registered psychologist – AHPRA Psychology Board of Australia with area of practice endorsement in Clinical Neuropsychology
  • Registered provider – TAC, Worksafe, NDIS and Medicare
  • APHRA Psychology Board-approved clinical Supervisor for candidates of Higher Degrees in Neuropsychology
  • Eligible Member of the Australian Psychological Society and College of Clinical Neuropsychologists
  • Current and valid Working with Children Check.
