Fees
Costs for Neuropsychological services depend on the complexity of the situation and how much input is required.
Fees are charged at an hourly rate in accordance with the Australian Psychological Society recommended hourly rates or third-party organisation funding rates for psychologists e.g., TAC, Workcover, NDIS. Other services (e.g., travel, interpreter) will attract additional fees.
Get in touch with Jane to discuss your specific referral needs and cost estimates.
Can I get a rebate?
Medicare does not provide a rebate for neuropsychology services. Some private health funds may cover part of the fee for a neuropsychological assessment; however it is your responsibility to enquire with your respective health fund regarding available rebates.
FAQs
Do I need a referral?
You do not need a referral. If you are unsure how neuropsychology can help you, Jane is always happy to speak with you about your cognitive concerns or your referral.
While not required, a referral from a treating practitioner such as a GP, psychiatrist, other health professionals or funding bodies can help with coordinating care after the assessment. Please ensure that the individual is aware that they have been referred.
What if I have to cancel an appointment?
If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, it is important that you contact Jane as soon as possible. Please give more than 48 hours notice, or a cancellation fee may be charged.
What can I expect in a Neuropsychological Assessment?
A neuropsychological assessment typically begins with an interview about your relevant personal history, current lifestyle, the issue that led to the referral or what you want help with.
Formal testing can take 2 to 4 hours or more. It may be completed in one sitting (with breaks) or spread over a few sessions. You will participate in a range of paper and pencil tasks, various puzzles, answering questions and complete questionnaires.
Jane may also speak with other people who know you well with your consent, such as a family member, friend or other support providers, to gather information about your thinking and memory concerns. Jane will also review any relevant reports (e.g., previous cognitive assessments).
Following the assessment, Jane will score and analyse the test results then write a comprehensive report with the findings, develop a set of recommendations and strategies.
A feedback session will be offered to share the assessment results, findings, and recommendations.
Following the feedback session, the detailed neuropsychological report will be sent to you and/or the referrer. The report details your relevant history, the assessment results (strengths and weaknesses), a formulation of the factors underlying their presentation and current difficulties, a diagnosis (where applicable), recommendations and individualised strategies.
Do you offer Telehealth?
Jane offers telehealth sessions via videoconferencing with end-to-end encryption to maintain your privacy during treatment.
You will need a mobile phone, tablet or computer with a good connection to the internet.
You will need a private and quiet space where you can sit comfortably for the duration of the session, preferably without interruption and where you will not be overheard by others. Headphones are optional.
If you are not able to use video conferencing, it is also an option to have your sessions delivered by phone call (this is also classed as telehealth).
